2024 Jake's Trash Bash

Roll back a few years and the grand kids would go fishing in Mary's Creek behind the house. At the time there was an abundance of Bass, Sunfish, Green Perch, Tilapia and Rio Grande. There was even an occasional gar or catfish. The other kids would be catching fish and Jake would wander off with the net and fill it with trash to throw in the trash cans at the house. This was a regular occurrence.  It was a serious matter for him to do his part of cleaning up the creek. That started our annual springtime cleanup of Mary's Creek. This was the third year for Jake's Trash Bash and a good year it was as the weather cooperated and we picked up a load of discarded plastic, styrofoam and paper plus some big objects like pipe, signage, etc. Most unusual objects this year were a cell phone,  a hand massager, a skate board, and a lantern.

We didn't loose anybody. Eight started and eight finished.
