I visited friends, Steve and Carrie Krammer, at their organic farm near Pontotoc which is north of Llano, Texas. Steve and I go back to our days at Smithson Valley High School where he was one of my students and he participated in several spelunking trips including the discovery of the lower passage of Preston Cave and many overnight herpetology camp-outs. Steve and Carrie's farm is hidden by oak forested sandstone hills. They grow organic crops such as cucumbers, basil, squash, watermelons, and tomatoes. Bordering the farm land is a beautiful stand of native Bluestem grass.
