Ninny's Ninnies

Sunday morning we participated in the Komen Race for the Cure in Austin in support of my sister-in-law, Ann Forester, who is a breast cancer survivor.  Sara and Erin created these patches which we all wore on our shirt sleeves.  It was an uplifting event and Ann (Ninny) was moved by having so much family there to support her.  The day started very early with a timed 5K race that Kurt, Agata and I participated in.  I found out that I am no longer the best in the family at the 5K. Following the race, we joined with the rest of the family to do the 5K walk. The walk is kind of like a parade with cheerleaders and pep squads yelling and cheering along the path.  The cheer that was kind of catchy and has been stuck in my mind ever since was "Save the Boobies! Save the Boobies!"

We came together Sunday in Austin for Ninny, but it was also for all those that are fighting breast cancer...including Kara's Mom, Delma Stuart.

Lucy, Grace and Haley were all decked out in their pink for the walk. Lucy walked the entire 5K. Grace and Haley got to ride in strollers.

Kurt, Agata and I at the start of our timed race. I never heard an offical count but there must have been about two thousand runners.
