Pumpkin patch

I was about to give up on growing pumpkins... I had seen at least thirty or so grape size pumpkins just turn yellow and shrivel up and fall off.  When I asked for help at the local nursery, the answer was it is just too hot for pumpkins to set fruit in this part of Texas especially this year.  But I kept watering the plants and hoping that I would get lucky and could grow enough pumpkins so each grandchild could pick their own right out of the garden for jack-o-lanterns.  Saturday, I decided it was time to pull up the vines if I couldn't find anything more than another small shriveled yellow waste. To my surprise, when I waded out into the patch and started a serious search I started finding pumpkins hidden all over in the greenery. It was like being a kid again and finding Easter eggs.  I found seven(some as big as a soccer ball) and there are probably more still in hiding.

This is almost ready to pick

Another surprise
