Kurt and I took his boys kayaking in the early morning hours yesterday at Christmas Bay near San Luis pass. I just bought a new tandem sit-on-top Tarpon kayak and Kurt and Gabriel tried it out. I took Luca in my old red solo kayak and we didn't do much fishing but Luca loved being out in the big water and watching the mullet jump.
Luca and I did a little island hopping. Luca learned how to pick just the right oyster shell to use as a knife to slice up mullet for cut bait.
This is why they call these guys golden croakers. He also caught a nice big flounder that flipped off the line at his feet.
It is so wonderful when you are little and you think work is fun. This part of the bay was one oyster reef after another. Luca pulled me across this one so I wouldn't have to get out of the kayak. I was so proud of him.
Luca pulling me to the shore. When Jake sees this video, he is going to want to go pick up the litter on this island.
