Let's go back to Caddo Lake

We were on our way to Texarkana and  at the last minute we decided to take a side trip to Caddo Lake State Park. The park is as beautiful as we remembered it being. Cypress trees, Lilly Pads, Spanish Moss with the feel that a swamp monster is going to spring up out of the depths at any moment.

Maybe we can find "the post" from our trip in 1970.  "The Post" was an early tribulation in our relationship. Sally had gotten a new yellow Chevy Malibu from her parents and we were going steady. We decided to break in the new car with a road trip from San Marcos to Northeast Texas to visit her sister at Kilgore College.  This put us close to Caddo Lake and some outdoor adventure. When it was time to pack up and leave the park, I backed her brand new car into a short boundary post. I don't remember for sure, but I think she was distracting me at the time. The damage kinda put our little adventure into a tailspin but we obviously survived and were married the following year.

After 52 years, the post is still standing.
