It is easy to see how the Organ Pipe Mud Dauber got it's name. The mud nest of this specific solitary wasp does look kind of like a church pipe organ. The female wasp paralyzes it's prey(almost exclusively spiders) with a sting and carries it back to the nest where she deposits several spiders in a chamber then lays an egg in the chamber with the paralyzed spiders. When the egg hatches, the larva will feed on the spiders during it's development.
