Saturday evening from the back porch.... What is that moving in the grass? I had to rub my eyes and focus again... It's a turtle and it is moving with a purpose... A closer look brought a great herpetological discovery... a Texas Tortoise... Obviously male adult. It was very intent on heading north which would seem to be alittle crazy.... Our place is just north of the normal range(south Texas arid) for this creature and here he goes headed even farther north. I tried to turn him around toward the south and both times he made a small circle and headed north again. If he is looking for a female, I'm afraid that there aren't going to be any between here and the North Pole. He appears to be quite old for a tortoise... so maybe he is just getting alittle senile. I can sympathize.

Is that what I think it is?
