Texas Rat Snake

Caught this 5 foot rat snake in our neighborhood on Friday morning.  Texas Rat snakes are the most common large bodied snakes in our area...sometimes reaching six feet in length.  Their diet includes rats, mice, other small mammals, birds and bird eggs. It sometimes eats chickens and chicken eggs and so many people  refer to it as a chicken snake.
