Always entertained by Nature

While hiking elm lake trail at Brazos Bend State Park this morning, I crossed paths with this guy. The size and the metallic purple coloration made him easy to spot. This is in the family of ground beetles in which there are approximately 2000 different species in North America. Let them live as they are beneficial insects with voracious appetites for other insects that  are pests in gardens and farms.
