Camp Wood with John and Kara

Thursday morning, Sally and I drove to Uvalde to meet John and Kara for a brick hunt... Kara had found out about a pile of old bricks in the downtown area of Uvalde and had set up for us to have free picking.  Kara and I both found several bricks to add to our collections.  From the brick pile, we drove out to Roaring Springs development at Camp Wood where we stayed in Kara's parents, J.E. and Delma Stuart's cabin. It was my first trip to Roaring Springs and it was right up my alley as I love places with natural springfed swimming holes and this one was clear, cold, deep and uncrowded  Great place to relax.  If I was rating Texas swimming holes, this one would definitely get a "10". We fed the catfish at Woody's, enjoyed an evening ride around the ranch on a four-wheeler and stayed up late on the porch watching for "falling stars".   We left early the next morning so the trip was very short.  We are hoping to stay a lot longer next time.

Even sitting in freezing cold spring water, Sally was still "hot"

We had a great time...clear cold water and no crowds

  1. Thanks for the pic of me looking like an Oompa Loompa sitting on the bank.
